I've been so bad about documenting and there have been so many funny and fun things that have happened. The girls are at the very best age right now and so fun (mostly).
I've got to document Charley's obsession with owning a Build-A-Bear store when she grow up. She has taken this very seriously. She knows all of the jobs (or most of them) and has assigned friends and family to work different areas (left stuffing job, right stuffing job, selling clothes, dressing them, checkout person, etc). She has had Pat write on pieces of paper people's names and what their job will be ("Mommy-you will do the stuffing.") She also has pieces of paper for each person saying "you will get a free Build-A-Bear." So, instead of paying her employees they will work for free Build-A-Bears. She is inventive and will also have a B-A-B tea party area and a make-up area. Gin Gin and Bubby will do the make up and Ryan and Emma were going to be the servers at the tea party but they have decided they want to work at Colton's instead. Over the summer she handed out job descriptions and payment plans to the different people that she plans to have work for her. Recently, though, she said she needed them all back in case she forgets who is supposed to do what. Pat suggested that she make a list of the jobs with the workers but she wants the papers back.
Charley also wants to invent rubber suits so that the B-A-Bs can swim in the summer. So, this summer she set up a huge project in the Morrow Building where she "invented" rubber. She had a bunch of little plastic cups and would take anyone that came to our house next door to "make rubber." You squirt a couple of different colors of glue into the cup, cover with plastic wrap, and tie with pink yarn. We must have 20-30 of these stacked in the guest room right now. Lo and behold after time it does appear that she made something like rubber.
As time has gone on she has continued to think and talk about her plans. She will call us into her room after putting her to bed to ask questions about how it will work (also to ask questions like "what shape is your brain?"). She asked Pat the other day what would happen if she was sick and couldn't go to work. He told her she would probably train other people to be able to do her job, too, and that one person could be cross-trained to do multiple jobs. She said "I probably won't get sick." The girl already doesn't like to delegate.
She is cut-throat competitive. She casually mentioned to me that she thought the other stores would close down because all the people would come to hers because she will have the tea party and make-up.
She wants the B-A-B to be right in front of our house. We live at Lyon now so she pictures it in the big yard in front of our house. She also worked with Pat to draw up a blueprint of where she wants things in her store to go.
Very interesting girl. I love it! Can't wait to see what she really does with her mind!
